A New Standard of Excellence
While other manufacturers were busy reworking existing AC connector and receptacle designs to adapt them for audio, Oyaide's engineers, whose knowledge of physics and materials with regard to sound is second to none, set out to examine each material employed in exhaustive detail to determine what would yield the best result. Thus their connectors would have to be designed and built “from the ground up”. In the process they have defined a new standard of excellence.

Important considerations for a secure AC electrical connection |
1. Appropriate Hardness: The contact material must maintain its exact shape over time without any adverse effect to the sound
2. Appropriate Springiness: The material should have the ability to rebound from the compression of first contact and expand to make firm long-term contact. This is highly important as a superior contact has the ability to eliminate vibration due to the movement of electrons (current) or electromagnetic fields (signal) through the contacts. For clean transport, secure contacts are crucial.
3. Conductivity
4. Appropriate Choice of plating materials: The type of materials, their combinations and thickness must be carefully chosen
5. Surface finish: At a microscopic level, where metal meets metal, the more flat and uniform the final finish, the greater the level of contact. Strict control of surface quality, including uniformity of plating thickness, is a must for cleaner sound quality.
The importance of high quality power supply connections is now widely accepted. Many enthusiasts install dedicated power lines for their hi fi systems and no longer question the importance of the quality of the receptacle fitted to the wall. Conventional "hospital grade" connectors can improve the strength of the mechanical connection, but they are far from ideal for realizing the best sound quality.
Oyaide's (Oh - yah - ee - day) objective was to develop receptacles whose sole purpose was to deliver the highest sound quality possible. Every part has been designed with this in mind. Extensive research into the effects of plating methods has yielded three equally valid but different types of sound for you to choose from. The entire series is non-magnetic to avoid any disturbance from magnetic fields.
Oyaide introduces the R1 their first 20AMP wall outlet.
Oyaide outlets have impressed audiophiles the world over, as much for their fine build quality and exotic materials as for their warmth and exceptional musicality. Created with high current applications in mind, the R-1 is Oyaide's first 20Amp outlet.
Composed of a Platinum and Copper alloy with a touch of Beryllium added for longer clamping life, the R-1 unleashes greater dynamics and bass weight than the SWO series, retaining the resolution, warmth and life that audiophiles have come to expect from Oyaide outlets.
The body of the R-1 makes use of high-tech composite plastics molded to Oyaide specifications; these materials and their construction are designed to reduce vibration and resonance in the outlet.
All Oyaide outlets are hand polished twice for maximum conductivity and use Stainless Steel screws for strong and safe connections.
