What is it about the design of Reference 3a loudspeakers that makes them so special? In the Case of Reference 3A there are several interesting factors. Let's examine.

The most sonically debilitating element of a loudspeaker is the crossover. Inside many speakers are complex, multi-element designs using capacitors, resistors, inductors. Crossover components represent the the most sonically "destructive" part of the speaker system, draining power and inducing phase/timing errors. By eliminating the crossover to the main driver, nothing encumbers the path between the amplifier outputs and the driver. A single Mundorf silver foil and oil capacitor protects the tweeter. This less is more philosophy results in a loudspeaker that is incredibly phase and time coherent.

The end result?. Instantaneously one hears the correctness of timbre and harmonic structure. Spatial recreation is astonishing. The sense of all those individual characters we as audiophile use to describe our listening experience blend into a seamless organic musicality.
