Brand Summaries
Audience Cables - Audience continues to receive Stereophile Recommended Component awards year in and year out. Their top of the line AU24 e series offers a warm, balanced and extended sound. This sound continues throughout the line all the way down to the Conductor series. In our opinion, the Audience speaker cables are the best performers of the group, with the interconnects yielding a very balanced, forgiving, but less airy sound than other brands.
Harmonic Technology - Excellent bang for the buck audiophile cables. Our favorites are the Precision Link interconnects, Pro AC11 power cord, Photon Digital link and the Pro 9 Reference speaker cables. All of these offer up performance that belies their price point, and the other cable offerings are no slouches either. It is tough describing a "house sound" for Harmonic Tech cables, because there really isn't one. Call us if you have questions on matching Harmonic Tech cables to your equipment.
Synergistic Research - Synergistic Research audio cables are designed to work their best when used throughout your audio system. When you have an entirely Synergistic Research cable "loom", the totality of the performance is greater than the individual parts. They have adopted a specific methodology for implementation of their cables. For example, the Precision Reference interconnect is made specifically for the preamp to amplifier connection, and the Tesla T2 power cord is designed specifically for preamplifiers. They have spent thousands of hours perfecting their cable combinations, and when implemented properly one is rewarded with a sound that is balanced, extended (at both ends of the audio spectrum), holographic, dynamic, and most of all, sounds like music.
Wireworld - Wireworld cables are very transparent, with a focus on micro and macrodynamics, providing a very fast, and lively sound. All in all the Wirewold cables offer a sound that is slightly cooler than Audience, with a little more controlled bass. The Wireworld power cords are a unique, flat design that offers up some of the blackest backgrounds of any power cable we have heard.
Silent Source - Similar in musicality and transparency to the Synergistic Apex, the Music Reference Interconnect however moves the performers slightly more forward in the presentation than the Synergistic cables. If you like the sound of the Synergistic Research cables, but hate having to use a wall wart power supply for each cable's active shielding, the Silent Source is a simple alternative that offers a very similar sonic result.
