Loading... Please wait...Let me preface this by saying I compared the Nuforce SC-700B with some very expensive speaker cables (Synergistic Apex), so my comments need to be taken in that context.
First, the look and feel of the cable are excellent. The build quality is very good for a cable in this price range. Most audiophile cables in this price range are not shielded at all, the Nuforce SC-700B has a copper foil and a copper braid shield. Quite impressive. The cable stays in whatever shape you bend it, so while not ultra flexible like an audience speaker cable, it is fairly flexible. The wire itself looks like a combination of 2 round, finely stranded 18 awg conductors combined with 2 12 awg flat, braided "Analysis Plus" like conductors.
The sound initially is a bit crisp on top. The treble does begin to settle in after about 75 hours of play. It becomes extended and airy. This still might not be the speaker cable of choice if your speakers are already forward or energetic in the treble region. I am thinking metal dome tweeters here. The bass and midbass are dynamic and full. The bass doesn't seem to change much with break in. The same goes for the midbass. My Grand Veenas go into the 30's and the Nuforce speaker cables have no trouble extending into that region. The midrange is balanced, with placement in the plane and behind the loudspeakers.
For the money, the Nuforce SC-700B is an excellent contender, with the nearest competitor being the Audience Conductor at $387 for a 2.5 meter single wire cable. I would say the Nuforce is more dynamic, extended and airy than the Audience. The Audience is a very "laid back" design, while the Nuforce is very energetic.
I would recommend this cable to someone with tube gear, or someone looking to get more air and extension out of their existing audio system.
