Reference 3a speakers have received numerous accolades from music lovers around the world. Few speakers have captured the hearts of audio reviewers and audiophiles like the Reference 3a MM de Capo.

What is it about the design of Reference 3a loudspeakers that makes them so special? There are several interesting factors. Let's examine.

The most sonically taxing element of a loudspeaker is the crossover. Inside many speakers are complex, multi-element designs using capacitors, resistors, inductors. Crossover components represent the the most sonically "destructive" part of the speaker system, draining power and inducing phase/timing errors. What if the crossover could be eliminated? The benefits would be huge , correct? Definitely, and Reference 3a has done just that. Nothing encumbers the path between the amplifier outputs and the midrange/woofer. A single Mundorf silver foil and oil capacitor protects the tweeter. This less-is-more philosophy results in a loudspeaker that is incredibly phase and time coherent.

One need not be an audiophile to appreciate the Reference 3a loudspeaker. Instantaneously one hears the correctness of timbre and harmonic structure. Spatial recreation is astonishing. The sense of many individual characters blend into a seamless organic musicality. Listening to Reference 3a speakers, you'll be captured by the music, not by the speaker.

The Hyperexponential Carbon Fiber Cone Driver allows for a direct connecting of the woofer to the amplifier without any intervening crossover or the traditional "high cut" coils and their attendant problems (I.E. crossover ringing, efficiency losses, impedance and phase anomolies, etc.).

This design provides optimal damping qualities, complimenting the internal impedance characteristics of most well designed amplifiers.

Bybee Quantum Purifiers

4 standard Bybee Quantum Purifiers can be incorporated inside each speaker internally at all of the binding posts. This way the incoming signal passes through the Purifiers and the benefit is passed on to all of the drivers. Bybee Purifiers remove a type of noise that Jack Bybee calls 1/f (1 over "f"). The result of the Bybee's noise removal is a more spacious soundstage, more natural musical decays, better harmonic layering, and being able to hear the acoustic space of the performance venue with more clarity. Standard Bybee Purifiers are incorporated into the stock versions of the Episode and Grand Veena loudspeakers. Tweek Geek has arranged to make the Bybee Quantum Purifiers available in the other Reference 3A loudspeakers as well. Our standard upgrade will incorporate 4 Bybee Quantum purifiers per speaker, for a total of 8 Purifiers altogether.

Upgrade the MM De Capo i's with Super Effect Bybee Purifiers!

Tweek Geek is also offering an upgrade to the standard Bybee purifiers included on the stock speakers. Replace some or all of the standard Bybee's with Bybee Super Effect Purifiers. They are the same exact Purifiers used in the award winning Bybee Speaker Bullets. Our Level I upgrade places a Super Effect Purifier on each positive terminal of each set of binding posts (internally of course), and a standard Bybee Purifier internally on each negative binding post. That is a total of 2 Super Effect Bybees and 2 Standard Bybees. The Level II upgrade replaces all four standard Bybee Purifiers with the Bybee Super Effect Purifiers.

The Super Effect Purifiers are an exponential leap in performance over the Standard Bybees.
