Often considered to that the best midrange in the world, the critically acclaimed BE-10 is now equipped with the Usher Daimond DMD tweeter. While capable of resolving the last bit of musical information, reproducing a stunning soundstage and palpable imaging, the BEE-10 Diamond DMD captures the thrills of the performance and presents the music with such purity and sweetness like nothing else can.
The exquisite Be-10 Daimond DMD loudspeaker features 5-inch beryllium inverted-dome midrange drivers in addition to the unparalleled Be Daimond 1.25-inch beryllium dome tweeters. A single 11-inch Eton Kevlar woofer powers the bass, and time-aligned cabinets ensure any high-quality tubed or solid-state amplifier sounds its best. The integration, speed and clarity of these drivers uncover low-level detail usually lost in the noise floor of less resolving speakers. Dr. Joseph D'Appolito is the technical consultant providing guidance on crossover design, resulting in suave, powerful, transparent and engaging sound from beautifully crafted and lustrously finished cabinets made with leading-edge components at very affordable real-world prices.
Because of its extreme hardness and excellent thermal conductivity, diamond has always been considered a potentially great material for a loudspeaker diaphragm. Tweeter units with a diaphragm made of synthesized diamond from the CVD (chemical Vapor Deposition) method have been around for quite some time, but many find their sonic performance compromized, due mainly to the high mass of the diamond dome and also to the unfaborable resonance signature of the material itself.
The Usher Diamond DMD Technology incorporated the light and stiff Be tweeter diaphragm material with the diamond coating.. This consists of a proprietary metal alloy base layer coated with an amorphous diimond-like carbon layer on both sides. The base metal layer of the Diamond DMD dome tames all of the Diamond layer's unfavorable sonic traits and brings out the best of both materials.
Sonics of the Diamond DMD
The true revolution however is in the Diamond DMD tweeter's unprecidented microdynamic resolving power. The DMD dome's structural integrity makes possible a surprisingly intact and undistorted reproduction of the input signal, which clearly shows in the reproduced sound as a sense of purity and completeness that is at the same time new and familiar: New in reproduced music but familiar in live performances.
