The M2Tech Young is a high performance, very high value-for-money D/A converter capable of handling up to 384kHz sampling rate and 32 bit resolution (USB input). It features a high speed asynchronous USB input based on the hiFace technology, further developed to allow for higher sampling rates. It features a comprehensive input set (S/PDIF on RCA and BNC, AES/EBU on XLR and optical on Toslink) to accomodate a wide variety of digital connections. Despite its relatively low price, the Young DAC encopasses a leading edge technology for data handling and processing.

• A high-speed asynchronous USB connection
• A high performance oversampling filter, custom-made on a programmable logic device (FPGA) that implements minimum-phase filters with minimum pre-echo and a very low noise floor.
• The 32 bit -D/A integrated circuit is used in a non-conventional way to allow for 768kHz internal operation. The synergy between the DAC IC and the custom oversampler allows for exceptionally low noise floor and THD.
• The output buffer uses a special operational amplifier with very low noise and THD thanks to its class-A biased output stage.

Sound:

What we like about the Young Dac is that ALL sampling/bit rates sound great. The external power supply leaves plenty of options for upgrading performance as well. The Young Dac is very wide bandwidth, expect solid low bass output, with plenty of articulation and slam. An open, smooth midrange with lots of layering, width and depth. Lastly expect a relaxed and airy high frequency presentation that will have you rediscovering many of your old recordings once again. 24/96 and above recordings are simply stunning, especially for the price range.
