Auralic Vega G1 Streaming DAC
Auralic Vega G1
Audiophile Streaming DAC
The Vega G1 DAC from AURALiC is the latest entry into the G series of audiophile components from Auralic. It supports both streaming and conversion of the current highest-resolution digital music formats, up to DSD512 and PCM in 32bit/384K, and it stays up to date with OTA updates from AURALiC.
It has the following features:
- A headphone output
- A high-resolution-capable network streamer
- Ethernet and wifi input; balanced
- Single-ended analogue outputs
Inside, AURALiC's proprietary Tesla hardware platform offers plenty of horsepower for the Vega G1 with a Quad-Core Cortex A9 processor chip, 1GB of DDR3 memory and 4GB of storage. It is essentially an original Aries built inside the Vega.
The Digital Side Of The Vega G1
AURALiC's terrifically innovative DAC feature where their Tesla platform allowed the Vega G2 to handle incoming data in such a way that the DAC didn’t need to lock on to the frequency of the source signal at all. It could actually operate independently of the source signal’s frequency, thus rendering signal and synching errors (and their resulting jitter) completely irrelevant. That independent, Jitter- Free Operation has also made its way into the G1.
The VEGA G1 possesses the same customized DAC chip that AURALiC uses in their Vega G2. It also uses the G2’s lightning fast (no pun intended) 72fs Femto clock, adeptly handling clocking duties for impressively precise signal handling.
The Analog Side
On the analog side, ARIES G1 sticks with the ORFEO Class A output module that has been impressing fans for years, and a set of Flexible Filter modes that experienced users will find familiar returns.
AURALiC Vega G1 offers a flexible array of digital playback options. One can use AURALiC's in-house developed Lightning DS software on an iPad or iPhone to access their personal digital library (Via NAS, or USB connected hard drive or thumb drive), Tidal, Qobuz, or Internet radio. Spotify Connect is also a built in option, as is Apple's AirPlay.
If one wishes to use the powerful Roon library/streamer management software, the Vega G1 is also a Roon Ready endpoint device.
Vega G1 Chassis
While not the unibody chassis of the Vega G2, the G1 is housed in black anodized aluminum with a silver rotary knob. The G1 does however have the same 4.0-inch true color retina resolution display.
There are also plenty of options on the back of the unit for hard connections from other digital source components if you need them:
- USB HS
- Ethernet port for network streaming
