A Higher Level

The newly designed USB Audio Class 2.0 asynchronous digital interface from Matrix Audio has in it's DNA the excellent quality from the previous generation. You can connect the digital audio stream to receiving devices through the newly added IIS port, avoiding the loss caused by digital signal protocol conversion. The X-SPDIF 2's built-in high-quality femtosecond clock and FPGA processing unit is capable of playback up to 32bit/768kHz PCM and 1bit/22.4MHz DSD audio streams.

More Powerful X-CORE

The new generation XMOS U208 is an 8 core digital signal processing unit. It has powerful multi-core and multi-threaded processing capabilities, and it is the industry's most advanced USB Class 2.0 digital audio solution by far.

FPGA Control Center

The powerful XILINX SPARTAN FPGA assists in XMOS management and assigns the clock, processing DoP transcoding and JITTER reduction for the IIS port.

Audiophile Crystal Oscillators

The X-SPDIF 2 uses 2 Accusilicon high-quality femtosecond clocks as a reference clock source, which work at 44.1kHz, 48kHz and multiple sample rates. The FPGA automatically controls the frequency assignment and switching, and the femtosecond clock has an independent ultra-low noise LDO power supply.

Multi-level LDO

The power supplies of the X-SPDIF 2 are constructed of multi-level, multi-group LDOs and solid capacitors, they can filter out the superimposed noise from power effectively. All of the circuits powered by the low noise or ultra-low noise LDO avoidsd the high frequency switching noise caused by DC/DC circuit. You also can obtain high quality power from USB bus.

Configurable IIS Port

The Matrix Audio X-SPDIF 2 supports several different standards of IIS. It is configurable for different devices by setting the IIS definition switches. The DoP converting function transcodes the DoP audio stream to a native DSD stream output from IIS port.

External Power Supply Support

You can add easily add an external linear power supply to to the X-SPDIF 2, but it will also work with USB bus power. It will automatically disconnect the USB bus power when you connect it to an external power supply.
