The LUMIN D3 offers Sabre DAC technology combined with an all-aluminum compact chassis. The latest LUMIN processor technology provides DSD256 upsampling and TIDAL Connect bringing audiophile-grade performance within your reach.
It has an easy, smooth and open character, yet is a dynamic and grippy device too. There is none of the brightness or even harshness associated with some less expensive streamer designs, and nor does it sound bland, boring or opaque. – Stereonet

Great streamer, does everything I wanted and sounds fantastic doing it. Extremely quick and responsive to its iOS app. Decodes MQA from Tidal beautifully. Only thing you might miss are physical play/pause buttons, but I planned to do everything from my phone so it works great for me.

Beautiful, detailed sound. The warmest, most “analog” sound I’ve ever heard from a digital source. Standard 16/44.1 (cd quality) files sound amazing, and 24/96 files are even more astounding.
Hi Fi and MQA files streamed through TIDAL are revelatory as well.
I’m using the Lumin D2 as a Roon endpoint. Roon is an amazing way to consolidate all of your digital files. Combined with TIDAL, you have almost any song you can imagine at your fingertips. That said, if you don’t want to invest in Roon, I’ve read very good things about Lumin’s iPad app. I have only used the app on my iPhone for initial settings with the Lumin, so I can’t personally speak to how works as a player app.
This is the least expensive of the Lumin streamer line, but they certainly did not skimp on sound quality and functionality. Highest of recommendations.

I get to play around with a fair bit of serious audio gear … for someone with two kids, a mortgage, a job, etc.
About 15 years ago, I realized that while I could hear what people at “The Absolute Sound” were talking about what mattered more was how much enjoyment I derived from music.
Suffice it to say I have spent years with an “alternative platform”. I have no negative comments w/r to the DAC stage, etc. – but I haven’t had a chance to carefully go back and forth. However, the unit “just worked”, the UI is *WAY* better than what I’ve had while waiting *years* from another firm, and the sound … is clear.
I haven’t sat down and listened to the intimate vocal sounds on this or that album but it’s at least comparable with another discrete player/DAC stack costing a chunk more … and … I can use it, my spouse can use it, and my kids can use it.
What I have spent on the recordings I have well exceeds my equipment budget. That I and my family can enjoy them more of the time is key for me.
I would buy it again in a heartbeat and will very likely acquire more of Lumin’s products.
